a period
in your life where you ignore
leaks,
that water spot
on the ceiling,
you turn up the radio
when you
hear a clanking
noise
coming out of your car.
you pay no
attention to loose threads
on sweaters,
or missing buttons
on coats.
you sort of let things go.
not cutting
the grass,
cancelling
dental appointments,
yearly check ups
with your doctor,
you let a few bills
slide,
forget to pay your taxes.
it's downward spiral from
there.
soon the house is dark
and cold,
and the po po are at
your door.
