under the spell

and other assorted
sites
to find out what ails
us.
that sudden appearance
of a lump,
the bruise that won't
heal,
that bloody nose,
the fatigue,
the tingling in our
fingers, our toes.
we take our pulse,
check our
glucose monitor,
our blood pressure.
we prick our
fingers for a dot of blood,
we're doctor
Kildare, doctor Zhivago,
doctor Welby and
doctor House,
all rolled into one.
