the big muddy

it used to be,

we'd think, that this too will

blow over,

that things

would settle and some sort

of normalcy

would return. but

it just doesn't feel that way

anymore.

we're neck deep

in the big muddy,

sinking slowly, but

surely

into a bottomless pit

of quicksand.
