polished
blue,
three dials with numbers
so that it
locks.
it holds a few things
of importance,
papers,
certificates,
birth records,
insurance and codes.
but there's other things
too, less
worldly.
a picture, a letter,
a postcard,
a strand of hair,
one earring,
an empty bottle of perfume.
a poem that i wrote when
i was in love you.
all of this
needs
protection too.
