staying in the dark

not everyone has a light on.

some stay in the dark

forever, never

lighting a candle,

let alone flicking the switch

on a small lamp

on the table.

it's easier not to know,

to not move forward

and out of the cave

of their own misfortune,

their own delusions

of who they are and what

the world might be.
