more water this time

i step away from the pot

steaming

vegetables.

and walk away for awhile.

the water turns to vapor,

then nothing

but a bone

dry bottom burning,

all of it gone brown.

i smell it from the other

room

which makes me put down

my new book,

The Stranger,

and i start over.

but this time with more

water.

lesson learned.
