job
people say.
but i think i've quit
or been
fired
or laid off from every
day job
i've ever had, except
the one i have
now, which is me
working for me.
it's not really a job,
but it pays the bills
keeps me
in new shoes and gin.
shelter and a car.
it's paid for a few
divorces, alimony,
child care,
and an assortment of
engagement rings,
diamonds that i never got
back. (insert bitter emoji here)
but once you get over
the fence, quit
the corporate world, you
never go back.
there is another way
to live your life.
it takes courage and brains,
guts and foolishness.
but it's worth every hour
away from
the nine to five trap.
