their

the simplest of tasks

difficult.
written in a strange language
half English
half latin.
the more confusing it is,
the more you pay.
sign here, sign there.
layered thick with legalese
and misspellings,
punctuation out of
sorts.
have it stamped and notarized,
they smile
and shake your hand
as you finally start a new life
and walk away.
next, you hear them say.
