I see that the clock
on the far
wall,
the battery powered clock,
the mid
century thing with wooden
spikes
and a silver disc
at the center has stopped.
it's been three ten for five
hours now.
I got nearly two years out
of those batteries.
a lot of time has passed
since I hung it on the wall
next to the black and white
photo of the flat iron building
in new York city.
enormous changes have occurred.
I pop in two more batteries.
let's see what lies ahead now
as the second hand begins
to sweep forward.
