let's walk together

sometimes we need to feel
the earth
beneath our feet, shoeless,
and bare.

the wet dew of grass
as we gather mail at the gate.

the sand
of the sea.
the dirt of a road we're on,
between our toes.

it connects us.
the puddles of childhood
that we ran
through.

the hard floor, cold
concrete.
the stiffness of new carpet.

the warm wood of the porch
in summer.

the silk of sheets.

let's walk together and see
where we might go.
