we board the train
in bunches.
sardines in the silver can.
the yellow line
to the green to the blue.
we stand.
the car wobbles and sways,
speeds
up and slows down.
we hang on to one
another, keeping our
feet firm,
our grip strong,
hand in hand while
we roll down the tracks,
across the river,
through towns,
passed graveyards
and buildings. so much
we've never seen,
so much
we don't understand.
