no stamps

the check is late in coming.

months late.

it's not much money, but still payment due.
I text and call,
leaving one message after the other.

finally he calls me back.
sorry, he says. I've looked everywhere
in the house and I don't have any
stamps. my wife even checked her purse.

where do you get stamps these days?

I tell him the post office or any grocery
store, but no worries, i'll send him some
with a self addressed envelope,
