saved not tending to my
hair

no more combing
is necessary,
there's no style
to keep up with,
no long minutes in the shower
with shampoo
and conditioners.
blow dryers are rusting
beneath
the sink.
combs are left in the drawer.
no more telling
the barber,
a little off the top,
the sides.
squared in the back.
part it on
the side, please.
no visits to the hair salon
to shape it
like Bobby Sherman
anymore.
