no more schleps to the office

everyone

i know is packing it in.

letting

their hair grow silver,

bailing

on work, on the job, 

retiring

and taking the buyout,

receiving at last

their

social security check,

cashing in

on their savings. pushing

it all into

the middle of the table,

and exclaiming,

i'm done,

i'm out.

they are looking forward

to sleeping in,

to no more

schleps to the office,

regardless of snow

or rain,

no more

calls to answer to,

no more

sitting on the beach with

a laptop,

no more running against

the wind.
