i used to want new.

the new car smell.

the pair of shoes,

shirt

and pants

right off the shelf.

the new paint on the wall,

couch,

or lamp.

a new plant

for the corner.

a new book to read.

but that was then,

and this is

now.

i prefer old.

mid-century modern.

like you and me.
