I forgot where I was when I woke
up
this morning.
there were no bars
on the windows,
no slab of concrete under
my feet.
no guard walking the hall.
no squared
in walls.
I was home.
not there again with the warden
and her
whip and chains,
her
twisted mouth, forced into
a smile.
