it's hard to imagine
why
this baby is laughing. but
she is.
curled in the arms
of her young mother.
her bright pink face
is aglow
with a smile,
a twinkle in her new
blue eyes.
she has found the secret
of life
and hardly knows what
life is.
if only it would go on.
this brightness, this
joy, this sudden bloom
of happiness.
