meeting up with old friends

i almost feel like

i know

these people, having grown

up with them,

they're relatives

and friends

of some sort that influenced

my childhood.

Uncle Ben

and Little Debbie,

Betty Crocker,

Aunt Jemima and Captain

Crunch.

Charlie the Tuna,

Popeye on a spinach can,

Tony the tiger,

Snap, Crackle and Pop,

the Indian girl on the brick

of butter.

when i have them around

me

in the kitchen

i feel safe, i feel at home

again.
