if i remember correctly, was
under twenty
dollars,
there was no
tv bill,
no internet service,
the paper
on the porch
was our internet
back then,
the nightly news
at six.
there was cold milk
in the bin
outside,
butter and eggs, perhaps
a sweet if
you ordered it.
the postman came
twice a day,
he often tipped his hat,
he knew your
name.
you pushed your mower
along the yard,
trimmed
your hedges by hand.
people walked
by and said hello, they
waved.
