that the light in the hallway,
the one
twenty feet up
is burned out.
months have gone by.
i know.
i know.
but it involves the extension
ladder being
carried in
from the yard
up the steps and then propped
precariously
against
a wall, then climbing up,
with bulb in hand.
i think i can live
in darkness
a little while longer, rather
than the other
way around.
