The Rule of Law

there used

to be a thing called

the rule

of law.

commit a crime

and you

were fined

or jailed,

punished accordingly.

steal,

assault,

or sell drugs,

cook the government

books,

or cross

the border 

illegally used to be

crimes

punished by the law.

nobody thought such

a common sense approach

would return

again,

but here it is.

sanity once more.
