bitter fruits

we'd like to think

that we

are beyond such petty ways,

jealousy

and envy.

greed

and lust.

but we all succumb

at some point.

we're human.

we're frail,

and we will all

take a bite

of that

forbidden fruit,

though bitter,

from time to time.
