the strange voiceless
calls,
the heavy breathing.
the silence.
all the fun and guessing
has been taken
out of the phone
calls at three a.m.
with caller I D.
the good old days
are truly gone.
no milk at the door.
no fuller brush man.
even Mormons
seem to be taking a break
from knocking
anymore.
