i was told what to read,
what to watch.
what to say, how to think,
how to believe.
i was a child
led around by another's hand,
under a cold
spell.
it was strange place to be,
a wearisome land.
looking back
with clear eyes,
i wonder how such a thing
could happen,
determined to never let
such a person
into my life again.
