vacation.
the beach trip, a week long stay
at a hotel along the shore.
the car packed with
luggage and toys.
shovels and buckets.
bikes and more.
the disgruntled wife,
unable to get the sand
out of her shorts.
the tired and hungry child.
grandparents showing up at some
point with their dog.
it was exhausting. the two
bed room facing the boardwalk.
the long hot days on the sand.
breakfast in the morning.
lunch from the stand,
dinner at Captain George's
on Laskin.
i used to look out at the long
blue ocean and wonder
how long it would take me
to swim to France.
