whey they come back from
the war,
having gone
through combat.
that distant stare,
that numb look.
slow to answer, quick
to jump
at the loudest noise.
dealing with fear.
it takes time to recover.
i've never
been to a real war,
but close, very close
and it feels almost
the same
after living with her.
