embedded in the ground. not gold,
not silver.
a plain
rock. not a diamond
in the rough.
it's been there for ages.
has anyone paid attention
to it.
so quiet.
so normal. no shine to it.
no glimmer,
no reason to be dug up
and taken home.
i wipe its face,
i dust it off. i sit beside it
for awhile and listen.
