the young teacher
would make the bad
boys
take the erasers
and bang them against
the wall
behind the school.
clouds of white dust
would billow
from the soft black
boxes.
the boys coughed,
with their faces whitened
by the chalk,
but i would volunteer.
she was beautiful
and kind.
i just want to make that
clear.
i wasn't bad at all,
just in love.
