and tell her to get out.
that's it.
i'm done.
but we're in the middle of
nowhere,
she says.
how will i get back?
i don't know, i don't care.
but get out.
she grabs her purse
her phone and gets out.
she stares
down the long stretch
of black road,
her hand blocking the sun,
and wonders which way to
go.
as i drive away i look
into the rear view mirror
and see
her getting smaller and smaller
and until
at last,
she's gone.
