the devil at the door

most of the lessons

i have learned

in my life,

i have learned 

the hard way. 

letting the devil

in the door when

she knocked and smiled

through the window,

the alluring life 

without a soul.

i have ignored my

intuition, my gut,

letting the beast in

time and time again, 

and still did not learn 

a thing, until the last one 

brought it to an end.
