i spend the afternoon
raking
leaves in the back yard.
it's deep
in yellow.
the vines have slowed down,
so have
the weeds.
it's a small yard, but it
takes
time to go from side
to side, front
to back, to rake and sweep.
to carry them
out the gate and slowly
move them into
the woods.
each year it's the same
for them, though things have
changed
considerably for me.
