if you don't have anything
nice to say about
anyone, come sit next to me, she
used to say.
let's talk.
she wasn't into empty
conversation,
she wanted the dirt,
the skinny,
she wanted to know what
went wrong,
who was up to no good,
who was cheating on who,
what gossip was there to sling
around.
she wasn't mean, or evil,
just bored.
it kept her in good spirits,
as did the gin
and tonic too.
