they won't let you forget

most birds

will veer off before colliding

into the window

as i watch

from inside.

but on occasion,

one

will dive head first

into the glass, then fall

to the ground.

stunned and embarrassed.

most survive

and fly away again, but

the other birds will

never let them live

it down.
