i shouldn't have
opened her medicine cabinet
or peeked
into her purse.
the crazy pills,
the knife, the gun,
the map
of something buried
in the woods.
and what's this under
the bed?
a leather whip,
and a wig.
handcuffs?
to me she was always
Donna Reed taking
a fresh batch of cookies
out of the oven.
but all of that has
changed.
