the maid asleep in my bed
when i come
home from work.
i'm early.
very early.
nothing is finished.
the house is still dirty.
the dishes
are still in the sink,
the laundry
piled next to the washer.
obviously
she didn't expect me home
so soon.
i see a book i was
reading
next to her,
a cup of tea, now cold.
the tv is on mute.
the Spanish channel.
she looks so comfortable,
at peace,
so i don't wake her.
i leave.
i let her rest and sleep,
i can come back at five,
i tip toe down the
stairs and leave.
