eyes
at me, she'd say,
don't laugh,
or smirk.
don't you dare
say something
sarcastic about what
i just said
or did.
she'd slam
the door
and i'd leave for work.
that's how the day
would start
off.
it was hard to go
home before dark,
so i'd wander around,
and drive,
perpetually lost.
