were allowed to smack kids
around a little
with a wooden paddle.
the bullies
and the miscreants
who shook
up the class with their
clown show
antics.
my geometry teacher,
mister Ritter,
once grabbed
a kid by the neck
and shook him like a
chicken
in the barnyard,
lifting him off his feet,
turning his face red.
it was the most well
behaved class
after that.
