the ten year dog.
longer than any marriage.

and affection too.
i dream he's asleep
beside me.
i dream he's running across
the great lawn.
i hear his bark, feel his warm
body next to mine.
he's always happy
to see me.
as i am seeing him.
this love has not dimmed
with time.
