when you just want to get away
from people.
go to your room, like you did when
your were a kid
and lie on the bed,
not answering the door when
your mother bangs on it,
asking what are you doing in there.
why is the door locked.
you're not reading one of your
father's magazines, are you?
sometimes you need a little down
time.
some personal time.
some peace and quiet away from
the maddening crowd.
you just lie there
with a pillow on your head,
and blink your eyes, letting the other
world float away.
