when i retire
she says to me, closing her books
on another year
of teaching,
i'm going to buy an RV
and travel.
take the blue roads across
the country.
meet new people
in out of the way places.
she's been saying
this for three years now.
i don't see her leaving though.
or quitting.
her life's blood
is in teaching, in the kids,
the school.
her complaints fall on deaf
ears.
she loves it.
