to wear the snooze button out
when
younger,
delaying the day
for another ten minutes.
just ten
more precious
minutes,
was all i needed,
then another ten,
until finally someone would
come into
the room
and pull the covers
off of me,
and the dog would
leap onto
the bed to lick
my face.
get up, she'd say.
you're going to be late.
