we need to blame someone

it used to be

that people blamed God for

catastrophes,

how could He be

so mean,
so cruel

as to wipe out a hundred

people

in a fire

or flood.

what purpose was there

in snuffing

out so many lives,

so young?

doesn't He care about us?

we go to church,

we give to the poor,

we walk

the straight line with a moral

compass.

there's enough blame to go

around,

but no one points

to the sky anymore, though

it's not His

fault either.

it's just the way it is,

don't you know?
