a pool in the back yard,
maybe ten feet across
thirty feet around,
two feet deep,
that we inflated
with a bike pump
and filled with water from
a hose.
it was bright blue and
made of vinyl,
that i can still smell now.
no country club,
but it was fine.
for hours we would lie
in those soon to be
unclean
waters and float.
if we squeezed our
legs together, we
could fit in maybe
ten skinny kids and a dog.
until everyone had
to go home.
