into the east river
with a
cement block tied to my
ankle.
i think back
on my life,
especially the last
twenty-four hours
with a girl
named Lucinda.
she wasn't lying
about her
mob connections,
or her brother
Joey.
and as i slip down
into the cold murky
water,
i see the city waking
up
to a pink sunset.
i wave goodbye
to Lucinda
while she waves back
from the pier.
