we look at a map

of the country

and start perusing which state,

which city

to retire in.

fifty choices.

but hmmm, not there, the taxes

are too high,

and that state

has earthquakes, fires

and mudslides,

that city is crime

ridden

and expensive,

that state has hurricanes

and alligators.

in the wide middle they've

got tornados

and coyotes,

people eating cats and dogs

and it's always 95

and windy.

there's

flooding down south

when the levees break,

and up north the lakes

are frozen

and it's a blizzard from

October to April.
