i feel a tiny

hope 

for humanity when the traffic

lights

go out

and everyone is

on their own,

on their

best behavior.

no one is in a rush,

everyone

being cautious, allowing

each a turn

at crossing the intersection.

making their turns

to the left

and right.

signals flashing,

lights on,

a wave, a nod, 

everyone being polite.

like in the old

days.
