and so we thought at the time
that it
was a good idea
to avoid the delivery charge
and tie
the queen sized mattress
onto the roof of
her Ford Pinto.
but then it started to rain
and the wind
began to blow.
we tried to hold it down
by putting our
arms out
the window
to steady it,
but it wasn't working.
the mattress became a sail
and flew off into the sky.
we kept driving.
i looked at her and said,
oh well.
