Open all night

how did we eat

so much food in the middle of the night,

stopping

at I hop

after a night

of bar

crawling,

to feast on pancakes

and eggs,

bacon and sausage, toast

with butter

and jam.

we were starving

at that young age,

thrilled to see the blur

of neon

lights

blinking Open, come

on in, so we did,

parking the car

in the gravel lot,

then

hurrying in the rain.
