is a part time clown
when the circus
comes to town.
during the day, his real
job is an accountant
with a law firm,
grey suits and a frown,
but during the weekends
he puts on the make up
the clown costume
with floppy shoes
and an orange wig like Bozo.
i see him get into his car
in the morning.
with the painted smile
on his gooey white face.
he waves, then shoots
a stream of water at me
from the flower on his
lapel. i think that this
is who he really is.
