the discovery

i drove

her to the doctor

to have a tiny lump removed

from her breast.

i found it one

day in the middle

of making love.

as i was sitting in 

the hospital waiting room

for her

to come out, her ex

husband showed up

and her married boyfriend

of nine years.

together we all

sat in the waiting

room, nervously tapping

our feet, waiting
